John F. McCormick
Practice Description
Mr. McCormick has been practicing in Texas since 1990. He began practicing as an Assistant Travis County Attorney, assigned to the Civil Division. His practice included personal injury defense, ad valorem tax collection in the state and bankruptcy courts, commercial litigation, and civil rights litigation. In 1998, he became associated with the law firm of Brim, Arnett & Robinett, P.C., where he represented school district employees in employment and teacher certification matters, and also maintained a practice in the areas of personal injury and probate law.
In June 2003, he returned to public service, serving as the Director of the Criminal Intake Division of the Travis County Attorney's Office. This division is responsible for filing Class A & B misdemeanors committed in Travis County, Texas.
Mr. McCormick returned to the firm, as a partner, in September of 2006. He represents school district employees in adverse employment matters including grievances, termination hearings, and nonrenewal hearings. Additionally, he represents teachers in certification matters before the State Board for Educator Certification. He also practices in the areas of probate law and criminal defense.
Mr. McCormick is also an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
